Computing

How we teach Computing at St Thomas’

‘My favourite part of computing is coding – I really enjoyed making the gorilla game’ Mahanoor Yr 6

‘I love to learn new facts about different subjects – and enjoy using the laptops to research’ Huzaifa Yr 4

‘I love using the beebots – it’s funny how you can make them move about’ Archie R Y1

At St Thomas’ we pride ourselves on giving pupils skills to enable them to function as active participants in an ever-changing digital world.

We equip pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world. Computing has deep links with mathematics, science, and design and technology, and provides insights into both natural and artificial systems.

The core of computing is computer science, in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work, and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. Building on this knowledge and understanding, pupils are equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content.

Our computing teaching also ensures that pupils become digitally literate!
