The government is providing additional funding of £150 million per year to improve the provision of PE and sport in primary schools. The funding is being jointly provided by the Department of Education, Health and Culture and Media and Sport. Primary schools are given the funding directly, for them to spend on improving the quality of PE and sport for all their children. This year (2019/2020) at St Thomas’ we received £18,740 to improve PE and Sport provision for each of our children.
At St Thomas’ we recognise the invaluable contribution that Sport and PE make to the health and well-being of our children. We also believe that an innovative and varied PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive impact on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of all children. Our governors agree that the funding must be used so that all children benefit regardless of their sporting ability.
